Engineering, System Engineering and Process Engineering SupportAs the system Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and ISEA lead engineering support group for the INMARSAT program, SBAR engineers are involved in all facets of planning, execution and testing of new system designs and control of current design problems. SBAR engineers have interfaced directly with the satellite equipment manufacturer to provide input and evaluation of proposed changes to the shipboard terminal equipment and satellite usage issues, as well as proposed changes to the INMARSAT System Definition Manual. They have also performed satellite power level testing with the INMARSAT organization and satellite service providers as a potential to increase channel availability. SBAR recently completed analytical studies identifying an upgrade to the system that will solve bandwidth capacity/availability problems and result in a significant reduction in Navy operating costs. SBAR engineers work directly with the SSC-SD ISEA ILS personnel in updating all ILS information, including the recent re-writing of all INMARSAT PMS procedures, validation and changes to the APL, and system certifications. SBAR has also completed numerous FEA (finite element analysis) tests on various parts used for SATCOM systems. |
