Information System (IS) Development, Information Assurance (IA),
and Information Technology (IT) Support
NSWC PHD was one of the initial commands that used the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) program. SBAR system administrator and network engineers were initially part of the program. There became a need for on-going support of requirements outside of the cognizance of NMCI.
For the past two years, SBAR has provided on-going support of the Air Dominance Departments legacy computer requirements. This support consists of analyzing existing IT and IS databases, IT applications and recommending new or improved interfaces or tools to improve effectiveness and efficiency. We perform maintenance and technical support of the LANs and provide desktop support for the systems not part of the NMCI program. Basically, all areas not covered by NMCI are covered by SBAR.
MCA Engineers, currently an operating division of SBAR, provided similar services to the Air Force under the Technical Services for Computer Support (TSCS) contract at Vandenberg AFB. Under this contract, they provided Operations and Maintenance (O&M) and inventory management of VAFB computer resources, classroom training on PC programs/products, and security training. They also operated and maintained mobile MIPS systems. VAFB computer resources support includes the servicing of approximately 6500 PC's, network hardware, software and computer security, and Life Cycle Acquisition Management. This contract expired in October 2003. MCA maintained a workforce of approximately 25 personnel, most of whom are available to support Seaport on a contingency basis.
